  • Q 5. What kind of stones are marble?

A Marble stone is metamorphic rock formed from fairly pure calcite crystals in its parent limestone or dolomite rocks that have heated, softened and then crystallized naturally over a long period of time from the immense pressure in the earth's crust. These forces cause the limestone to change in texture and mineral makeup. This process is called recrystallization. Limestone is originally made up of shells and bones of ancient sea creatures that fell to the sea floor millions of years ago. The calcium in the bones & shells combines with the carbon dioxide in water to form calcium carbonate. The fossilized materials in the limestone, along with its original carbonate minerals, recrystallise and form large, coarse grains of calcite, which is the basic mineral structure of all marble. Marble is formed with a medium density and pores.
  • Q 6. What is the recommended care for my furniture?

    A
Although our products come finished with some of the toughest finishes you can have on your furniture, routine measures should still be taken to enhance the effectiveness of the finish and the beauty of the furniture. All furniture should be cleaned with a soft damp cloth. Make sure the surface is not subjected to an overabundance of water. We recommend any reputable name brand furniture polish to help prevent the wood from drying out.

If your furniture has a stone top, it should be protected from liquids, sunlight and temperature extremes. Use a lightly moistened cloth to clean the surface, or consult your furniture retailer for a recommended marble polish. When in storage, the stone top should be stored flat without heavy objects on it. Use caution when moving to protect the stone from breakage.
